Lima, Peru
Almost missed our connecting flight from Panama to Lima. We had 20 minutes to our gate once we landed, and of course it was at the terminal on the other side…at the very last gate. -_- Luckily, we made it. Minh checked us in online for us to sit in the emergency exit for extra leg space. The flight attendants asked us if we Habla Espanol and Minh was super overzealous with his “Si si!” so we wouldn’t have to give up our seats. Haha
Our first day exploring we went to the Plaza de Armas and San Francisco Church.

After we were done, we realized it was going to be tough calling a cab (who wouldn’t rip us off) back to our hotel. We looked up a nearby hotel hoping that they could help us call a cab. We ventured into a local hotel, and the girl at the front desk ended up calling us a cab through an app on her phone. We discovered Easy Taxi App and Tappsi! Made it a total game changer for us as it’s basically like an Uber for Peru. It even gives you an estimate of how much it should cost to your destination, so that way we know if we’re getting ripped off or not.
My favorite place so far (of course) would have to be the Cat Park in Parque Kennedy! Apparently there was a big stray cat problem in Miraflores, and instead of trying to get rid of all the cats, the government embraced it and care for the cats! 🙂 When you walk into the park, there are a bunch of cats lying around, taking naps, and sitting in people’s laps!

I sat down and immediately a cat came up to me and sat on my lap, about a minute later, a second cat came over and somehow made space to sit on my lap too. Guess the cats can sense who’s a cat lady, cuz there weren’t any cats sitting in anybody else’s lap in the area that I was sitting at. Lol.
We had lunch at a ceviche spot, I love ceviche and it’s very affordable in Peru! However, we both ordered ceviche and nothing else, so the overall meal was a little too acidic after a while. I would advise ordering ceviche along with a rice dish or something else to balance the meal out. Either way, super yummy!
We later went back to the cat park (yes, I made Minh take me back a second time..hehe), and there was a guy who totally had me beat and had 4 cats in his lap and two more beside him. He actually had 3 sleeping in his lap, and then a fourth came in and just stood there and started to doze off since there was no more space for it to lie down.
These cats are super friendly and not afraid of people at all. If there was a park like this back home, I would totally go there every day! #forevercatlady
That night we visted Reserva Park which has Circuito Magico del Agua, which was an interesting show. It was a mix of super trippy laser show with cheesy American music. They actually used the instrumental of I Want it That Way by Backstreet Boys at one point during the show.
There were several fountains throughout the park, including this one where you could walk through a water tunnel
Although we didn’t stay too long in Lima, there’s definitely a lot to see (and eat!) and had an overall positive experience.
Awesome photos!
